ABOUT

BELIEF #1

Coaches have the perfect platform to change lives for the better if they coach in a positive, transformational way.

BELIEF #2

The more incentives an athlete is motivated to play for, the harder they will compete and the closer they will come to reaching their full potential.

BELIEF #3

God had something very special in mind as He created each of us.  Since we were made in His likeness, we all have the potential for GREATNESS!

Beyond The Goal Line Philosophy

The term "Goal Line" tends to be associated with the game of football, but in this context is metaphoric.  Every sport has Goals to attain or a Line to cross to achieve success and both coaches and athletes work very hard to accomplish this.  However, when we have played or coached our last game, what new  "goal lines" do we establish for ourselves?  Is it getting a degree... landing the perfect job... marrying the right person and starting a family... buying a new car and bigger home?  As we cross each of these "goal lines" what lies beyond?  As we reach retirement, is this our final destination?

At Beyond The Goal Line Sports Ministry, we believe the ultimate "Goal Line" we must cross lies at the Pearly Gates of Heaven.  As coaches and mentors of youth, we have a unique platform to change lives for the better and assist young people on their journey to this final destination.  As coaches, parents, and people of faith who want to cross this ultimate goal line, we need to ask ourselves two questions... "Who are we taking with us?" and "What are we willing to do to make this happen?"  Leading and helping others get to Heaven through the realm of athletics is at the heart and soul of Beyond The Goal Line Sports Ministry.

BIO

Beyond The Goal Line Sports Ministry was founded by Bruce Scifres, a long-time and legendary football coach at Roncalli High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.  As a 3 sport athlete in high school and a record setting running back in college, Bruce was inducted into both his high school and college athletic Hall of Fames.  After leading Roncalli to 7 Indiana Football State Championships, he was named "Coach of the Year" 12 times.  Bruce became a three-time "Hall of Famer" as he was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.  He retired from coaching after an undefeated 2016 State Championship season, and is the subject of the short film titled "Coaching For Christ."  In 2017 Bruce was the recipient of the prestigious National Football Foundation "Distinguished American Award."  Far beyond the accolades or victories on the field, Bruce always prioritized faith formation and character development over wins and losses.  He always believed his number one job as a coach was to help the young people he served get to Heaven.  His work in this endeavor has only just begun.
